Book Festival at the Pioneer Memorial Library - September 14, 2014
The Pioneer Memorial Library held its first Book Festival. We opened up the basement on a Saturday morning and afternoon, had the authors set up their materials for the visiting public. We also had some of them scheduled to speak each hour to interested participants upstairs in the meeting room.
We'd like to thank Ray Imhoff who volunteered to make this event happen. An author himself, he knows how important it is for authors to have opportunities to share their creations.

A life honored! Debbie Tittel, Assitant Director Passed Away Friday 13, 2013.
The Pioneer Memorial Library suffered the
loss of two dear people on Friday, September 13, 2013. In order to allow staff the opportunity to
attend funeral services and tie to grieve, the library will be closed the above
hours. We appreciate everyone’s concern and cooperation.
Wednesday: In honor of Debra Tittel (1952-2013), Assistant
Director.
“Debbie” as she was known
will be greatly missed by family, staff and community members. She lived her
life commitment to the library daily. She served as bookkeeper, Assistant
Director and Acting Director when the library was looking for a new
director. The community and staff will
miss her and Doug’s flair in cooking for events such as Booked For Lunch,
Chocolate and All that Jazz, Murder Mystery and receptions and lunches. She always had a smile and a kind word. When
she was walking through tough times she took time to care for others and make
sure they were served!
Thursday: In honor of Mary B. Smith (1925-2013), mother of Nancy
Saddler (PML Staff member), and Former PML Board of Trustee, Friends Board
and one of the key persons to establish the Friends of Pioneer Memorial
Library, as well as serve on that board later on. Mary has volunteered at the
library for many years thereafter.
With these factors in mind,
THE PIONEER MEMORIAL
LIBRARY WILL BE CLOSED
the following times due to library personnel loss and death by staff:
WEDNESDAY, September
18, 2013 – all day and evening
THURSDAY, September
19, 2013 between 8:00 – 1:30 pm

Booked for Lunch - September 2014 - Gene Rothfuss speaks
Gene Rothfuss started off our September 2013 - Booked For Lunch for the fall by discussing the book, "Israel, by Martin Gilbert. He also presented a number of other books that explain the Israeli and Palestinian conflict. It was a good review of literature and the issues that were brought to the audience for their consideration.
