Booked For Lunch in December and Chorace Singers

The Pioneer Memorial Library wanted to sing in the Christmas season by having the Colby High School Chorale singers perform for our Booked for Lunch audience. We did learn what each youth was hoping to do during the holidays but the Library Director told them she was said that none had thought staying home and reading books for the holidays made the top of their list!

Trivia Night Game Night was lots of fun!

The Library hosted a Trivia Night. Teams answered questions from 12 different subjects. Each team brought snacks to eat and the library provided the drinks. We had lots of fun and laughs. The winning team won a PML mug with a $10.00 Starbucks card (1/2 donated by Starbucks in Colby, 1/2 by PML). Losers received outdated encyclopedia volumes so they could bone up on the facts! Through the night team members and teams had the ability to also win fun prizes according to the subject matter. Thanks to Andrea and her dad who got the Trivia Wheel made for us!

Friend of the Pioneer Memorial Library - Journey Stories Project Finished

The Friends of the Pioneer Memorial Library came up with idea to support the 125th Anniversary of Thomas County by having a special project. Its title was His-story, Her-story, Our-story. This project asked citizens of Thomas County to tell their story about coming to the area, the beginning of a business or organization or a special event that really exemplifies living in the area.

The Friends of the Kansas Library organization gave the Friends group a matching grant.

The Prairie Museum of Art & History worked tirelessly besides the Friends group.

The 125th Committee and the Thomas County/Colby Chamber of Commerce also helped get the word out through advertising.

The big day came and many read the many submissions!
